New Vision Jet (“Morgan”) comes Home

In Aviation, Journal, Flying by Steve Sliwa

We sold our last Vision Jet (a Gen 2) three years ago.  We’ve had struggles with our FAA Medicals (mostly paperwork issues, and not because of any disqualifying medical events).  Those are now squared away, so we arranged to get into the production line for a Gen 2+.  Gen 2+ includes more thrust for take-off, an enhanced radar with AI modes for imaging storms ahead, and onboard internet plus a bunch of style and comfort improvements.

Nancy and her girlfriends usually name their planes after guys’ names.  Readers of these pages may recall Maxwell, Malcolm, and now Marshall.  Our new plane’s tail number is N955M, and Nancy chose Morgan for this plane.  I think she also did a great job in picking the exterior and interior schemes.

Here is the start of the delivery process at the Cirrus Delivery Center:

Here are some photos for the delivery, which happened to coincide with a significant birthday for Nancy:

Nancy and I had previously gone back to Cirrus for our recurrency training, so we just flew the bird home the next day.  We picked up some icing on the first leg, so Morgan didn’t excel.  However, in the next two legs flying from Knoxville, TN, to Minden, NV, Morgan beat the book numbers.  I think we have a good plane.

Approaching the Minden airport, we were advised there had been reports of coyotes on the runway, so we did an inspection pass at the uncontrolled airport before entering the pattern:

A couple of dozen friends were there to greet us and throw an arrival party in our hangar:

Here is a video of showing the delivery video at the party:
