Our nephew Max and his moms (Ashley and Allie) visited us with their dog Ruthie. Max is 6 years old and in kindergarten. It’s the first time he has visited us since he was born (he came once in Allie’s tummy).
Max had quite the visit. Here are some of the things we did:
- He went down to my airplane treasure chest in the playroom and picked out a model airplane to build. He chose an SR-71 Blackbird, the fastest airplane yet.
- We designed and built a fort together using our fort-building tools.
- He got swimming time every day, which included jumping from the splash pad, diving for his rings, playing catch while jumping, jumping off the spa, and heating back up in the spa between swims.
- He got to throw the ball for Obie, the flat-coated retriever visiting us, who gets two balls in her mouth coming back.
- He explored and conquered most of the devices at the Fountain Hills playground.
- He took several hikes in the neighborhood, around the fountain, and around the fountain trail.
Special items included:
- Visiting the Arizona Renaissance Festival (https://arizona.renfestinfo.com/). Max dressed up as Robin Hood and we all put on outfits to join the festivities. Max picked out a sword to complete his outfit. Special activities included:
- watching the joust competition where our favorite, the Black Knight Maximillian, got edged out for the championship;
- throwing darts (unbelievably, Max won prizes for his prowess)
- throwing ninja stars (also unbelievably, he stuck some stars on the target beating out adults)
- Visiting the Phoenix Zoo. Max especially enjoyed the giraffes, tortoises, painted dogs, monkeys, orangutans, lions, and rhinos.
Meals included:
- Ling and Louie’s
- El Encanto
