Nancy brought two fellow ’99s and me in our Vision Jet to San Diego for their annual convention. The Ninety-Nines – International Organization of Women Pilots is one of the major social activities for Nancy and Marcie. They frequently attend quarterly events, monthly fly-ins, and the annual convention.
This has been our first time back to San Diego as tourists in quite a while. We took a Duck Boat tour to visit the seals, a harbor cruise featuring the Navy’s fleet, and a tour of the new Navy SEAL Museum. We attended a San Diego baseball game and tried out several restaurants.
During the annual business meeting, I rounded up two other husbands to accompany me to the San Diego Zoo. I hadn’t been in almost 40 years. It has changed a lot. We decided this was our most epic zoo visit ever. The main characters were all active and easily visible. These included: pandas, a leopard eating a carcass, hippos, komodo dragons, warthogs (not the official name), and many others. Normally the most sought after animals are not available or sleeping behind bushes, or so it seems. Not this time.
At the annual banquet, Reno colleague Tom Hall received a highly coveted lifetime service awards.
It was a great trip and we want to come back.
